Liposuction is also known by various other names such as lipoplasty and liposcultpure and there are various different mechanisms of liposuction which are employed in order to aid in the removal of this excess fat from the body. There is however certain prerequisites for those who are interested in going for liposuction for weight loss and hence not everyone is suitable for resorting to liposuction. In most cases the candidate for liposuction should be definitely an adult having more or less proper health conditions without much complication. It is also necessary that prior to liposuction he must have tried some other forms of weight loss programs like dieting and exercising and he should require a minimum weight loss of about 10 to 15 pounds. However, there are certain predominant side effects of liposuction and while these may not take the shape of a serious health related complication, it is possible that they might be painful and therefore difficult for the patients to endure. As a result of the surgical procedure cuts and bruises are common and they can be quite painful initially though they will usually disappear in a few weeks time. At times scars are a common feature among certain individuals and this is usually dependent on hereditary factors. Certain scars have been found to disappear in a short duration while some others may take the entire year to heal. Swellings are also common features of liposuction surgical procedure and they may cause a sense of discomfort to the patient. However these swellings do not symbolize any serious ailment and are usually seen to subside in about one or two month’s time. A common complain of those undergoing liposuction is the nagging pain which is extremely distressing and discomforting at times. For the pains, usually medication is implemented for relief.
